Growing the Game of Golf: Angola joins the International Pairs with main Sponsor Petrowork

We welcome our newest licensee António Louro who will be expanding the International Pairs to Angola.
António the CEO and Tournament Director has more than 40 years’ experience dedicated to Project Management.

Along with his 30 years of amateur golf with relevant achievements in Portugal including 5 years as Club Captain of one of the iconic golf courses in Portugal Oitavos Dunes, home of several European Tour Events! With their main sponsor Petrowork onboard it is sure to be a great success in the region.

Golf in Angola started in 1935 but due to the long-lasting civil war growth of the sport has been slow and stifled. The Angolan Golf Federation (FAG) was created in 2018 with the main goal of growing the game to international standards and providing the 200 plus affiliated members with a platform to enjoy and experience golf. You could say Angola’s golf history is in its infancy but promising and growing year on year. Tournaments like the International Pairs will make a very clear contribution to that goal.

International Pairs Angola will be hosting their tournaments at the Mangais Golf Resort, a private investment-based Golf establishment that started thanks to the vision and knowledge of the major Shareholder Mr. Francisco Faísca, a world recognized golf course construction specialist with likes of projects done in UAE, Portugal and of course in Angola as Mangais Golf Resort. It all started 20 years ago with very unfavorable conditions during the Civil War, the peace agreement that came forth in 2002 made it possible to complete the course which has been open and operating as the sole international standards golf course (Championship Golf Course) in Angola since 2012. Mangais golf course’s unique location situated by the delta of the Kwanza River provides all players with amazing views and contact with the exuberant wildlife on site!
